The Kinley Project Manager Role

The Kinley Project Manager (PM) is responsible for leading teams to deliver projects in one or more of our Divisions: Energy, Rail, Aviation, and Government. The PM has the authority and responsibility to execute every facet of projects ranging in size from $5,000 to $50,000,000, and in that capacity builds relationships with fellow employee, clients, and industry partners to ensure team success.

The PM reacts to issues and unanticipated events with prudent judgement and problem-solving prowess. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

 

  • Lead the project team.  

  • Own the project from contract award to contract close. 

  • Measure and report on project success criteria results. 

  • Work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment demonstrating teamwork, innovation, and excellence. 

  • Participate in establishing practices, templates, policies, tools, and partnerships to expand and mature these capabilities for the organization. 

  • Prepare estimates and detailed project plans for all phases of the project. 

  • Procure adequate resources to achieve project objectives in planned timeframes. 

  • Manage the day-to-day project activities and resources and chair the project management team meetings. 

  • Monitor staff performance and complete performance reviews. 

  • Provide status reporting regarding project milestones, deliverable, dependencies, risks, and issues, communicating across leadership and with the client. 

  • Manage project scope and changes. 

  • Participate and/or drive feasibility studies, vendor selections, and proposals for evaluation. 

  • Manage ongoing quality control and participate in quality issue resolution. 

  • Assist in dispute, negotiation, arbitration or litigation, as needed. 

  • Create and maintain schedules to manage the contract. 

  • Develop and manage all aspects of project engagement from planning, external vendor relationships, communications, resources, budget, change, risks, and issues. 

  • Set and continually manage project and program expectations. 

  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel 

  • Monitor, track, and control outcomes to resolve issues, conflicts, dependencies, and critical path deliverables. 

  • Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation and presentations to various audiences, including project team/crew, vendors, customers, and key stakeholders. 

  • Define project scope and success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout project delivery.  

  • Identify and develop trusted rapport with project stakeholders. 

  • Deliver appropriate and effective executive level communication. 

  • Ensure that projects are proceeding according to scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards. 

  • Manage project issues and risks to mitigate impact to baseline cost and schedule. 

  • Continue professional development to keep abreast of emerging technologies, methods, and best practices. 

  • Extensive understanding of project management principles, methods, and techniques. 

  • Other duties as assigned. 

  • Proven success in providing on site leadership for project team by building and motivating team members to meet project goals, adhering to their responsibilities and project milestones. 

  • Establish practices, templates, policies, tools, and partnerships to expand and mature these capabilities for the organization.

EDUCATION 

 

  • BS (any) or BA in Construction Management - ideal.  

  • High School Diploma - required.  

  • Additional industry education or training - ideal. 

 

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, & SKILLSSOUGHT  

 

  • 2+ years of Industrial (Railroad, Aviation, Energy or Government sectors) project management experience. 

  • 3+ years of crew management at the site level of more than (5) five direct reports. 

  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite.
