
The Kinley Estimator Role
A candidate for the Estimator position should possess the following minimum qualifications:

A minimum of 5 years’ experience working within the estimating or project management department of a construction related field.

Advanced knowledge of the various disciplines associated with the construction industry – i.e. Civil, Utility, Architectural, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, etc.

Specialized experience in utility and/ or process piping an asset.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction related documents

Ability to oversee and delegate portions of the bid process to a junior estimator.

Must possess professional and courteous communication skills

Proficient in software applications – MS Excel, MS Word, MS Project or P6 and PDF Applications
-
A degree in engineering or construction management an asset but not required.

Must be able to travel throughout the US to attend project pre-bid meetings.

The Estimator’s Duties consists of the following tasks:

Take full responsibility to prepare a bid from receipt of the bid documents to submittal of proposal.

Organize and prioritize the bid processes to meet the required bid deadline. Delegate vendor & sub requisitions to junior estimator.

Perform material takeoffs of self-performed work activities.

Prepare bid packages for subcontractor’s scope of work to obtain sub bids.

Input material takeoffs and subcontractor scope into estimate.

Evaluate material quotes & sub bids for compliance with contract documents and scope.

Input material pricing and subcontractor quotes into estimate. Prepare labor estimates and equipment rental budgets.

Prepare preliminary project schedules and qualification proposals for inclusion with bid.

Attend pre-bid meetings at project locations and evaluate logistic issues of completing scope of project.
