
The Kinley Junior Estimator Role
A candidate for the Junior Estimator position should possess the following minimum qualifications:

A minimum of 1-2 years’ experience working within the estimating department of a construction related field.

Basic knowledge of the various disciplines associated with the construction industry – i.e. Civil, Utility, Architectural, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, etc.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction related documents

Proficient in basic math skills and ability to calculate lengths, areas and volumes of measurement
-
Proficient in software applications – MS Excel, MS Word, PDF Applications
-
Experience with scheduling applications, VBA programming or AutoCAD an asset.

Must possess professional and courteous communication skills
-
A willingness to accept assignments and discipline to complete assignments within a designated time frame

The desire to learn and increase value of your position within the organization

The Junior Estimator’s Duties will consist of the following tasks:

Organization and management of construction related documents – i.e., drawings, specifications, submittals and associated logs.

Communication with subcontractors and material suppliers to obtain bids for estimates.

Provide support to the Sr. Estimator to complete estimates and bids by bid deadlines.

Perform basic quantity takeoffs for various phases of the project
-
Update and maintain vendor contact database and budget estimating database.
